Surgery of the Hand

Dr. Alton Lee Hunter received his undergraduate education from Vanderbilt where he received his B.A. in Anthropology in 1987. He attended the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis where he received his Doctorate of Medicine upon graduation in 1992. Dr. Hunter interned with the University of Tennessee Medical Center from 1992-1993 in general surgery. He completed his residency at the Campbell Clinic (Memphis) in 1997. After completing his residency, Dr. Hunter began practicing in Lawrenceburg, TN. He became affiliated with the Mid-Tennessee Bone & Joint Clinic in 2002.

 

Dr. Hunter is from Selmer, TN and his wife, Mary Matthews is from Jackson, TN. They have two children. Some of Dr. Hunter’s hobbies include sports, farming and spending time with his family. Dr. Hunter has also worked as a medical missionary in Zimbabwe and St. Lucia.

 

Dr. Hunter is active in many civic and professional organizations and is a member of several societies:

Dr. Hunter  is the past President of the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society.
